Emerson TV, I think somethings wrong.

Every time I switch my TV input to video it is WAY brighter then the input I watch cable on. I can barely tell what I'm looking at. I tried to change the settings it just does not help.

What have you plugged in that you are trying to see?

A PS1, but I have also tryed to plug a DVD player to it. It's just brighter on the channel/input.

And adjusting the brightness and contrast ratio on the TV have no effect?

Yes just the brightness.

Well, it may be time for a new set then. What you've described sounds like something in the internal controls is malfunctioning and repairing (unless you have the parts already and are going to do it yourself) is not worth the money.

But just to be sure I understand you correctly, adjusting the brightness to the minimum/lowest setting has no effect at all?

Yes, i changed the settings all the way down and up. Doesn't help at all.

Darn, I was afraid you'd say that. Only thing I can recommend is a new TV, yours is broken and fixing them is almost never worth the money vs. buying a new one.
