Ok so I came up with an idea the other night You know if your playing a horror game you get the spooks and decide to quit for a bit well what if developers used this Idea if you wanted to quit the game you would be asked Five questions (about the game or just a random question) if you answered one wrong you would be made to stay on the game for a set amount of time. Now yes this would be a optional function but it would also be a good way to make horror games even scarier do you think this would be a good idea ?

Solution
No, I never been scared by a game, because it is just a game, I can turn it off. If it will 'annoy me' by asking some five questions to exit the game, well then I wouldn't bother playing it, or I just use ALT F4 to kill it (not to mention Task Manager).

Adding a annoying 'you can't exit game till' would and has upset PC people for a long time (see the numerous threads about having to get to a 'save point' because they would lose all they accomplished, but just can't 'save' where they are at). It may be nice for Consolers, but for PC people when we want to do something, that means we want to, not because the game/etc. let us.

OH! That sounded painfully pathetic! LOL! :pt1cable:

I don't think that would be a good idea. Like the dude from above said, If you really wanted to quit you could kill the app (Sorry to disappoint you Tom but you can do that even on a Nintendo DS) or simply turn the device off. Now, from my experience, the best way to overcome those scary moments is keep playing. ;D

What I think it would be a good idea is, as technology keeps getting better, the VR devices we will use could read different kinds of stimuli to take advantage of those and adapt the experience to make it even worse. :fou:

I really think that that particular thing won't work that well. When I'm scared I literally alt-tab or alt+F4, plus what Tom Tancredi said, it's really annoying when you are not allowed to do something on your computer aka turn off certain program whenever you want to because apparently you have to answer some 5 questions correctly or something.

What makes me quit games is damn jump scares. Why can't we have Silent Hill and Amnesia style of games where you're scared because of the atmosphere, which game itself creates? That's when I am really scared but I don't want to quit because fighting that exact fear is what makes the game good, not having a mini heart attack because of some jump scare.
