Approximate Purchase Date: Within the next 2 weeks

Budget Range: ~$1100 US After Rebates; After Shipping

System Usage from Most to Least Important:

  • Gaming (Am interested in TitanFall but mostly play League of legends at the moment)
    Photoshop / Lightroom
    Premiere Elements

Are you buying a monitor: No - I intend to use my 1080p TV till I can afford a nice monitor. Already have HDMI cable.

Do you need to buy OS: Yes - Which ever flavor of windows is best for gaming and does not have a lot of system over head.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com, amazon...but I'm open to any valid/known store.

Location: Within an 2 hr drive to to Austin or Houston, Texas.

Parts Preferences: I have always leaned towards Nvidia/Intel but I'll go with which company ever builds the most energy efficient, quiet, cool running parts.

I know the Nvidia GTX 750 TI is a low output power card and supports Shadow Play which makes some of my video recording trivial to accomplish..

Prefer SSD hard drives and really don't need more than 200 gigs on primary drive (current drive has 144 gigs used). I will need room to add more hard drives but for now can use my external Terabyte drives.

Overclocking: Unlikely

SLI or Crossfire: Unlikely

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080p (LED TV). Hope to upgrade to 4K.

Additional Comments: Thanks in advance for any help with building this machine. I would love to build a small, quiet, cool running, energy sipping machine for everyday use. Size wise, I'd like for it to be small enough to be hidden behind my TV but large enough with room to upgrade.

I currently have a mouse/keyboard but am looking for a wireless one that I can use from my couch.

Why Are You Upgrading: My current 3 yr old gaming laptop is knocking on death's door. I've reinstalled the OS several times, cleaned out the cooling vents, redid the thermal paste, etc. Now the hard drives are flaking out and wired network card no longer works. Recently I saw it have tea with a black cloaked figure carrying a sickle...not a good sign. ;)

Right on the dot of $1100 you get a GTX 770 and an Xeon. The reason i chose the Xeon is cause its just an i7 without onboard graphics. You wont be overclocking so i chose the Xeon as well since its a locked processor. Windows 8/8.1 are the best OS there is huge stability improvements and performance boosts in games. People just hate on it cause they cannot accept differences.

Thank you for your quick response! Do I need an i7/Xeon for what I'm doing? I thought an i5 might be more cost effective and sufficient for the task but I'm out of the tech loop at the moment. Any money I can save will go towards a nice monitor :)

Also is the video card a low powered version or just a regular energy hungry card?

Once again, I appreciate your help!

Thank you!

Edit: Alright, so I tried to purchase a Revolt from iBuyPower which was on sale...well the machine had problems and am now sending it back. Instead of ordering another machine, I decided to go ahead and make my own. I've looked at posts for machine's similar to what I want and devised my list of parts.

Is there anythiing I'm missing? Any way I can shave off a little more on the cost w/o sacrificing to much on performance?

I do have Amazon Prime.

Thanks in advance for any help rendered!
