normaly when i play games goes max to 50c , idle is on 37 38, i was downloading game on steam , i run guild wars 2 and it was so laggy fps indicator was showing 26fps...normaly its locked on 60, i checked the temps with HWMonitor and Cpu was up to 64c , after reboot temp went back to normal. P.S.this is the second time that it happened. Motherboard MSI970A G46 CPU FX 6300 CPU Cooler Big Shuriken 2 Rev . Windows 8.1. cooler seems to be attached properly. any suggestions ? thank you. i'm kinda worried its a brand new setup.
everything runs at stock settings.

Ambient air temperature can have a huge impact on your system as a whole. And if the temperatures are getting up there you should consider either a different cooler or some extra case fans. If you already have a lot of case fans you should check that you have about the same amount going in as you do going out. Generally best to have front fans, side fans, and bottom fans, sucking air in. Then you should have your top and rear fans exhausting air out. Also what kind of processor are you using?

Yea 63c is far too high. You should try reseating your cooler. When you apply your thermal paste make sure you use just one little dot about the size of an uncooked grain of rice. Make sure there's no plastic or anything between the cpu and the cooler. It should also be very tight. The only other question is what is your ambient temperature?

You said you had an aftermarket cooler on it. Use the aftermarket one because it will perform better. Just take it off, clean off both the processor and the heat sink with some isopropyl alcohol, then apply some new thermal paste and try it again.

You'll need thermal paste, you can typically find arctic silver 5 which is a pretty good paste from radio shack for a few bucks. You shouldn't take it off unless you have new stuff to put on.

Likely your ambient temperatures or air poor airflow through the case or both. Just make sure the air flow going in is roughly the same as the air going out.

Unless they're connected directly to the motherboard with the mini 3 or 4 pin connectors the motherboard can't control them.
