So I recently fixed my computer after it broke. I'm not entirely sure what I did to fix it but whatever. Whenever I start my computer, my mouse and keyboard will work upon startup and all that, I can enter my BIOS just fine, all of the USB ports are enabled. Then when windows starts, neither my mouse, nor my keyboard work at all. I've tried using a PS2 adapter on both of them but still no luck whatsoever. I need them in order to install windows. What do I do?

I literally do not know. I tried a lot of things and I'm not sure which thing fixed it.

it has to be bios or mobo, what are the odds of two defective USB components, not impossible though.
Did you try full cmos reset, the only thing would be OS itself.
In which case if full reset don't change anything, do a system restore to an earlier point when they were working.
Or if not possible then try clean install, ie format drive under advanced options. Assuming you have everything backed up and your current attempt to install windows is not an upgrade.

Well at this point I might be screwed, because after resetting the cmos, my CPU LED now comes on and stays on, and my computer doesn't even work. Oh well, a few thousand dollars down the drain. Good thing money grows on trees right?

I hate to sound rude, but how did you "fix it" if you didn't keep track of changes you made (so you could revert back if they didn't work) and if ultimately you ended up with a totally broken computer? What laptop did you spend thousand of dollars on? Is it a gamin PC?

i had this same issue today. after using amd's clean install utility, it uninstalled my usb drivers. mouse and keyboard works inside bios and safe mode, but not if i start windows normally. so i went to safe mode, using device manager, i re installed usb drivers using the disk that came with my mobo. it worked as good as before right after. hope this may help someone next time around. that is if they still use cd-rom drives.
