Hi guys.
I have some problems with my sata ports... they were working fine like a month ago, i had two Hard Disk Drives plugged in two of them, but then one day the pc suddenly turned off, and the sata ports stopped working, all of them... Already tried to reset the bios, and updating it, also changing the configuration of the ports from RAID, to IDE, none of the options worked, So, I bought a PCI card with sata ports, my hard disk drives work fine on it, but they aren't recognized by the bios, so i can't boot from them. Someone told me that the ports may have been blocked to prevent damage from a shock or something, and I wanted to know if it's possible, and if there's any way to fix them.
My motherboard is an Asus M4A88TDV-EVO USB/3.
Thanks!!

OK now for some diagnostic work. You will find some diagnostics here: http://download.cnet.com/windows/diagnostic-software/

Some computer manufacturers have diagnostics built in, and others have a separate diagnostic CD.

I found a post by SR-71 and here is what he said:

* Autoruns for Windows...
Since you have already checked the BIOS and also done re-setting, it looks like the SATA controller has failed. Before you give up on this try one more thing. Remove the RTC battery (aka CMOS) and leave it out for 30 minutes. Then re-insert the battery and try starting the computer.

Good luck!

Just start analyzing each aspect and it will tell you what the problem is. It does look like you have a bad SATA controller and if that is the case you will need a new motherboard.
