The information goku is providing you is simply incorrect.
* You can run each monitor at a different resolution without any problems. You do not have to run all monitors at the same resolution.
* Monitors will not normally stretch their image outside or beyond the boundaries of the screen. TVs might do something weird due to overscan, but this if fixable.
* However, the suggestion to not use VGA is a good one; it's why I suggested that you try using only HDMI or DVI.
Basically, it should be possible to fix your problem.
However, I really need to know what is going on.... and I do need those exact details in order to tell you how to setup the computer so it will work.
1. Is there an way you can avoid using VGA? Can you use either DVI, HDMI, and Displayport on both the monitor and TV?
2. What is the exact model TV you have?
3. What is the exact model monitor that you have?
4. Can you take a picture of how both the TV and monitor look when they are having this problem? Use a digital camera and upload to imgur.com if you don't have a place to upload the pictures to.
4b. Also, for good measure, take a picture of the display properties window for both monitors (two pictures) so I can double check the settings.
5. Also, what model computer is this? Is it a laptop or desktop?
