Hello, guys I have just ordered my gaming laptop from metabox, anyway I got it pretty cheap and very happy with the specs, the only dilema is they have contacted me and asked if I wanted to upgrade from the 8970m crossfire to the m290x crossfire. It is an extra $100-150, so it's not much. What do you guys think? the specs of the gaming laptop are:

Processor: i7-4900MQ Processor (8MB Cache up to 3.80 GHz)
Storage: Plextor M5S 256GB SATA 3 SSD
1TB 7200RPM HDD
Optical: Blu-ray Reader / DVD +- R/RW DL
Memory: 32GB DDR3 1600Mhz
Graphics: 2 X AMD RADEON CROSSFIRE 8970 4GB
Display: 17.3" FHD (1920 x 1080) LED Matte 72 Gamut
Bluetooth:
Wifi: Killer 1202 Wireless N and Bluetooth
Windows: Windows 8.1 64BIT
Warranty: 1 Year Platinum Metabox Onsite Pickup

7970M, 8970M and R9 M290X are all the exact same card except for varying amounts of VRAM. Running 1080p you don't need more than 2-3GB so if the M290X has 6 or 8 or whatever that is totally pointless. Go for the 8970M.

Thank you for a very good answer, basically yes they are the same card with a slight difference in max resolution. Would anyone else chime and let me know what they think?

Thank you for those links, and your advice, yes I know there is no difference in the m290x and 8970m, there vram isn't even changed it's just a rebrand, so basically I think it will be a better option to just stick with the 8970m. Does anyone else have input?
