Hey everybody

A Friend of mine bought an MSI R9 270X HAWK he wants to learn how to overclock a GPU since he finds overclocking the CPU is dangerous.

1: Which stress test should he use?

2: Should he use Catalyst Control Centre or MSI AFTERBURNER?

3: What clock can he achieve maximum with this GPU at stable (since he's running on air)?

4: Are there any good guides for optimization of the MSI R9 270X HAWK?

His components are: CPU INTEL CORE I5 - 4430

MOBO: ASUS B85 - MG 32 GB DDR3

PSU: CORSAIR CX 500 WATT

CABINET: CORSAIR CARBIDE 200R

RAM: 1X4 GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE UPGADE IN 1 MONTH TO 2X4

GPU: AMD RADEON MSI R9 270X HAWK

MONITOR: DELL 23.5 INCH BORDERLESS GLOSSY.

Also should I have put this in the "Overclocking" section instead?

1: Unigine Heaven and Unigine Valley for GPU stress testing (both free versions will work)

2: MSI AfterBurner would be best IMO but either will work. There is also Sapphire Trix which is pretty good too.

Thanks it isn't as complicated as overclocking the CPU right? Also is there an actual guide for it or should he be just playing with the voltages according to the stress test? Also is the HAWK version as efficient as a lightning version? Also in afterburner he can't change the power output in percentage.

One more question: would it be okay overclocking on the asus b85 mg?
