I was looking at my specs, I have mobos that have 16x pcie same with a video cards .

4770k Expansion Options

PCI Express Revision 3.0
PCI Express Configurations ‡ Up to 1x16, 2x8, 1x8/2x4
Max # of PCI Express Lanes 16

Intel® Xeon® Processor X5450
(12M Cache, 3.00 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)
This processor has pci express 4x4

When I was looking at xeon processors and some other old ones it does not have specs for the Expansion Options how do I know the cpu can do the full 16x speeds and would the X5450 just run 4x speed even if it was on a 16x mobo and how can I see those specs if not listed for I can tell if the process can do 4x or 8x or 16x at 1.0 or 2.0 or 3.0 revision.

First XEONs are not designed for desktops they are made for servers. Second that is a really old chip so I do not believe it supported PCIe 3.0. It does support 16 lane PCIe though no SLI. It uses the 5000 Chipset...

I found out about It I called intel

Cpu to Gpu Expansion Options for full 16x support

http://ark.intel.com/products/75123/Intel-Core-i7-4770K...

Expansion Options 4770k

PCI Express Revision 3.0
PCI Express Configurations ‡ Up to 1x16, 2x8, 1x8/2x4

Max # of PCI Express Lanes 16 <----

So this only has 16 lanes for the gpu and if you run 2 cards they will only have x8 lanes from the cpu to the gpus

http://ark.intel.com/products/64595/Intel-Xeon-Processo...

Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2670

Expansion Options
(20M Cache, 2.60 GHz, 8.00 GT/s Intel® QPI)
PCI Express Revision 3.0
Max # of PCI Express Lanes 40 <----

This has 40 lanes so you could run two 16x lanes from the cpu to the gpu and another gpu at 8x
