Recently, I've had a few problems with my DVD burner not being able to read DVD-r or DVD+r disks that have been written to, but instead, it recognises them as being blank. Pressed DVDs get read fine, along with pressed CDs, It also has trouble recognising written CD-Rs as well.
Uninstalling the DVD drive and rebooting or just rebooting fixes the problem, but I'm not sure what the cause of it is.

The DVD burner is a Sony Optiarc AD-5280S, and is connected to the second sata port on my motherboard.

Also, I believe this issue only happens in Windows, as it can boot of written DVD-rs fine.

Specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Gigabyte Z87X-D3H
Intel Core i5 4570
8GB DDR3

The program I've been using to burn disks is Infrarecorder, I have not tried any others.

Just buy a new one. Their $20. Not a big deal man. lol

DVD burners do die eventually like a lot of other things.

I now think the problem with the drive is with Windows, as I have another machine with Windows 8 on with a similar drive in, and the same thing happens with that. However, it doesn't happen with another machine running Ubuntu.
Also, this drive is only 2 years old, my previous drive, which was a Liteon was in use for 6 years before being replaced (it still works now).
