So i have an oldish kinda plasma tv that has a slot for a HDMI cable and a desktop that doesnt, only USB slots. Does anyone know if it's possible to use a HDMI to USB converter in my desktop, then use a HDMI cable to connect to my tv to use it as a sort of monitor to stream movies off my computer and have them displayed on the tv?
thanks!

p.s my tv also has a VGA slot so if this process is not possible with a HDMI to USB converter, would it be possible with VGA converter?

More about : hdmi usb converter computer monitor

My suggestion is to get a graphics card that has an HDMI output. The benefit of HDMI is it has sound and video in the same cable. Which video card depends on how old this computer is/motherboard slots.

If it has a PCI express slot, something like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DR3M050/ref=s9_simh...

If it only has older PCI (vanilla, no express) then a new motherboard is in order, rather than upgrade an old system.

List all slots on tv and pc like this

PC: vga, dvi, hdmi, s-video
TV: vga, dvi, hdmi , svideo/scart

Audio Slots:
PC: Stereo 3.5mm jack out, digital out,
TV: Stereo 3.5mm jack IN, RCA left+right IN, any other type of audio input (can be more)
