I'm looking for a decent pre built desktop pc for online gaming purposes. Ex. WoW, Aion, SWTOR and other games of that nature. I have a budget of about $800. Does anyone know of a decent company with pcs that can run those games on high settings within that budget? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

More about : buy decent pre built desktop

Why would you even buy prebuilt? Anyway look for fast single core performance like an i3 with a good gpu.
WoW -> dual core optimized
Aion -> single core optimized
SWTOR -> one and a half cores optimized (it offloads most of the workload to one core)

I can't suggest anywhere specific as I'm from the UK, but they'll be plenty of pre-built desktops at that price that can handle those games. As a general rule of thumb you want to be looking for:

1. A quad-core or higher processor (Intel i5, AMD FX-6xxx or FX-8xxx).
2. 8GB RAM.
3. A discrete graphics card (GTX 760 or AMD R7 270).

Storage space is obviously dependent on your needs, but most pre-builds at that price should have 1TB hard drives or higher.

If you understand the basics of PC components then look at online businesses who will custom-build a PC for you. A lot of retailers I've seen will sell you a PC as-is, and typically these don't include discrete graphics cards.

Why would you recommend 8 gigs of ram and quad/octa core / gtx 760 for those games? I play them on a 200$ htpc. I guarantee if you pair in i3 with a 7770 vs an i5/fx8xxx and a 760 You will not see any performance increase in those games...

Just make sure it has a decent GPU and has an intel dual core cpu pr better (i3 minimum) Dont go amd for these games as they require good single core performance

You're probably right, you wouldn't see a huge difference, but the specification I've given should fit the OP's budget and offer better compatibility going forward. If you have $800 to spend, you don't want to buy components that have been superseeded several times already.

To the OP; if you only see yourself playing the games you've listed, then $800 is overkill. You can get a computer capable of playing those games for quite a bit less. If you see yourself expanding into the likes of Battlefield, then you'll need a better spec. If you find a computer that you like the look of, we can advise if it will be suitable.

Fair enough.

Thanx for the input guys...I'm just looking for a desktop that runs those games and games like it. I use my console for most games so I'm just looking for a suitable rig that will play online games mostly MMOs on higher settings and one that I can keep relevant moving forward so I don't have to buy a new one every couple of years. And as I've said...thanx for your input

Well, you can either spend around $400 and get something adequate for today, or spend around $700-$800 on a beefier build which will last you for years and years.

If you're happy to pay the higher price then I'd recommend doing that. In the coming years games will get more demanding and you want to be sure you can run them. Buying a cheaper PC only to upgrade it within the next year is a false economy.

If you have any builds in mind we can give you a better recommendation. I can't suggest a retailer unfortunately, someone else will need to chip-in on that.
