I have all my parts except the graphics card which I may get this week or next.

I was wondering if it will hurt anything to go ahead and build and put everything together (so that its all in the case and ready to go)

I don't have integrated graphics so I won't be powering it on, but when I buy my GPU I just want to plug that in.

I'm getting anxious with these parts sitting here in their boxes

Perfectly fine.

You can even turn it on with no GPU, but installing an OS can be a little daunting...

Go for it, it won't hurt at all. Also, it will be ready to power on once you get the GPU (Saving you time).

Excellent. Yea me having time to dedicate to building is hard to get and I managed a day off tomorrow.

So I can power it on to make sure everything is installed properly?

I won't have the OS til I get my gpu so I can't install that either

You can power it on, but without a bios speaker to get audio error codes - you won't be able to tell if it hung at boot or at the lack of installed OS.

You can try to make sure it actually boots with a linux liveCD. Once you have the DVD made - try it in another system so you learn the keys to press to have it load. Then when your system is assembled, boot with the liveCD in the DVD drive - and as long as the DVD disk access light keeps going for a while you can be fairly sure that the system actually boots past bios.

Yup. But it probably won't tell you much.
