the laptop is an acer m5-581T and it is running windows 8.1. It was running just fine the other day then all of a sudden after I turned it off it started going in a boot loop. What is happening is when I try to boot it up it goes to a screen that says your pc has run into a problem and needs to reboot. then it starts to reboot and does the exact same thing again over and over. I have done quite a bit with computers but I'm not sure what to do now.
any help would be appreciated,
thanks

Restore points are normally created automatically after events like updates. Did you get into Safe Mode? Actually it's beginning to look like a Hard Drive problem. Need another bootable diagnostic

This will tell you if you need another drive..

Need a Recovery Drive. If your Desktop has Windows 8.1, type 'Recovery ' at the Start Screen and choose 'Create a Recovery Drive'. You'll require a small USB pendrive.
Boot from the USB drive and proceed via Troubleshoot/Advanced Options to CMD prompt and try sfc /scannow
or try System Restore or boot into Safe Mode with Networking if SFC finds corrupt files and can't fix them. (In which case from elevated CMD prompt Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth (Observe spaces before /)

Re-run SFC

I fear that unless you created a full backup for the Laptop, your problems have only just begun!
