Multimedia Monitor Choice

I have narrowed down my needs for a new monitor:

I want something all-around- for business/recreation-
some web site development, some photo editing but mostly internet surfing, DVD's/Netflix, and moderate gaming: Skyrim/Half-life/WoW etc. and reading/processing documents

Bang for the buck an IPS/16:10 ratio (1920x1200) in a 24" screen look like what I want but I would like to keep the delivered cost under $300 which limits choices, seemingly to two top contenders:

Asus VS24AH-P vs. Dell U2412M

My graphics card is a AMD Radeon 7850 w/2GB Memory

Any thoughts or recommendations would be helpful. The Dell has come down within 10% of the Asus price so not much cost difference..

They are both quite similar monitors (but good ones, nonetheless), so whichever one you prefer.

NEVER base a monitor purchasing decision on the response time numbers on the box: they are an outright lie!
Yes, those 1ms monitors you see may not really be 1ms... just like the 5ms monitor is not 5ms and the 8ms monitor may not actually be slower than the 5ms one. Consider these two extreme cases (they may not always be the norm).
Consider this BenQ, which claims 1ms, but really has response times ranging from 1ms to 12ms

How do they achieve this lie? Essentially, there are thousands or millions of different response times on each monitor. The response time represents a change from one shade to another shade (or color). The monitor companies often pick a shade that has a very low response time, while ignoring how most of the response times are very bad. Also, the fact that they even try to represent millions of response times with just 1 number is just silly (if not misleading all on it's own).

Thanks for the links. My only reservation about the Asus was it's stand. Since it is currently selling at close to list, I will just wait awhile longer for a good sale to sub-$200 and buy a vesa mount arm.. Thanks for your input.
