The joys of Windows 8 :/

So started my rig after it was shut down for 9 or 10 hours and got that message.

Didn't get to see it in detail, but what could cause it? Hardware hasn't changed (other than an LED fan replacing a stock fan), software hasn't changed (apart from a game install and it's been through multiple shutdowns and restarts since) and a mobile phone driver install (the driver repeatedly crashed afterwards according to event logs)

Last time I got one of these pre-clean install it said something about memory. I haven't run memtest 86, but it has been tested uses Windows' diagnostic and it passed. My Hard Drives passed their SMART tests, my drivers are all up to date apart from the WiFi one AFAIK because it's a TP Link adaptor and the newer driver is some Atheros Broadcom one.

sfc/scannow finds no corruption although Windows has corrupted its own files twice in the past

My rig was fine for about 3 months then out the blue this happens.

How do I run Memtest86 and how long does it take?
7 didn't seem half as annoying as 8 does, but my pre built Windows 7 laptop has its own share of demons (boot failures, BSOD's, hard crashes)

I believe the above is the correct link (I used memtest that was included on a linux disc so i havent tried the above link)
Boot from the disc or usb you save it to
Run it for however many times you want, (most just say to leave it on overnight for the best checking, that's what I ended up doing)

If the crash made a dump file then you can analyze it with stuff like Windbg

^Although it can be a bit annoying to get working properly and understand what it's saying

Ram Memtest overnight and no RAM errors. It only did 4 runs though. Once again, my hardware has passed and the software (8) is running into issues. On an unrelated note, can I remove the 351 MB unallocated space on my secondary drive (created when Windows was on it
