Hi All,

Tearing my hair out here, would really appreciate any help!! :)

I've uploaded all the dmp files (mini dump and last memory dump) and a CPUID output to the following location:

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B4w0t0XplTFAam1OMzBmcGl0QVU&usp=sharing

I've been having "sporadic" blue screens.

I've seen them at Windows 7 boot most frequently (dump shows CRITICAL OBJECT TERMINATION). The machine also had problems resuming from standby, locking up and forcing me to hard reset. I even tried running Ubuntu for the last week which crashed frequently with what appeared to be IO errors (EXT4-FS error device sda2): ext4_find_entry: 1309. Ubuntu diagnostics reported the drive was fine.

I ran memtest the other day against one stick of ram, it passed 5 times. I moved onto the next stick and memtest "froze" (blinking '+' sign but no test progression). I spotted that the voltage settings were 1.35v on the memory and the motherboard had set them at 1.5v and 1333Mhz rather than 1.35v and 1600mhz. I turned on XMP, which set the correct voltage and frequency values, and ran the test again, I got 22 passes against the 2nd stick. I then ran memtest against both sticks and got 12 passes.

Thinking I'd solved the problem I actually tried to reinstall Windows, it actually blue screened in the installation process yet managed to complete. I resorted to pulling out all components other than the CPU (running off built on graphics), Memory, DVD drive and SSD. The problem still persisted.

Next I switched out the SSD (currently running a samsung 830 SSD, a year and a half old) to an old 1TB Hitachi drive I have spare. I re-installed windows without problems and everything seemed ok. I ran that for a few hours and hadn't seen any blue screens. So, I decided to plug the SSD back in to see if I could run some diagnostics against it. All smart indicators showed the drive to be ok.

I formatted it today, oddly, while it was formatting and I was away from the machine it blue screened with the critical objet termination. I decided to format it again, this completed successfully. I've since been away from my computer only to come back and find it's crashed twice since being away. Bluescreen view now shows 3 CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION errors.

It's just happened again while typing this. That rules out the SSD (unless the replacement hard disk also has issues)...don't have the box for the CPU or motherboard, although I only bought them from Scan in November. It looks like it's just happening while the machine is practically idle now.

UPDATE: It's now far worse than I've ever seen it. One slight change is I'm running off the intel built in GPU. I started to run SFC /scannow and then got some strange desktop flickering behavior, eventually the desktop closed down and I got a blue screen critical object termination error.

UPDATE 2: Just ran the Intel processor diagnostic test and that gives a pass. I've included the output in my shared folder link above. Also have taken out one 4gb stick of ram to see if that makes a difference.

UPDATE 3: SFC /scannow did not find any integrity violations.

Thanks for any help.

Seb

I haven't, I'd tried different cables but hadn't thought to try different ports. I'll give that a go, thanks.

Problem is, it's hard to reproduce. I've not changed anything yet and not had a single issue since yesterday. :(
