hi there,

i recently tried to install kali on my pc but i abort the installation when it took so long time , then when restarted "grub file not found..."
I force quit (switch off button) then boot windows 7 , but the problem if restart it reboot one more time and do skip to final installation only if i eject the DVD boot

when press F12 , i see that the boot menu is not enabled(although it was before Kali installation abortion)

any idea please to reenable the boot menu and thanks in advance for any effort

If you have a backup of your system disk, restore it.

If you have a full Windows 7 disk, boot from it and do a Repair Installation. This will try to clean up your boot sector.

What boot menu are you talking about with F12? Sounds like the BIOS boot menu; no software that you can change will affect that. Maybe pictures would help us.

hi Sir ,
thx for your reply but i think i forgot to say that i formatted all partitions (so have no back up ) , i meant the bios boot , i can't find how to provide you with a picture,

I still think the problem is with the damaged grub file ( NB : i was using Ubuntu and windows in dual boot before tempt use Kali and so ...)

may this help and thx for any help

Nothing that you can do in software can change the BIOS boot menu. The BIOS boot menu will allow you to select which DEVICE you are booting from - which hard drive, or the CD drive, or a USB drive. It does not select the OS unless, of course, you have complete OS installs on multiple drives. The BIOS menu will never show Windows 7 or Kali.

Ok i know this Sir but even when i tried to boot from a USB (Ubuntu iso) the bios can't detect this( i mean USB) although before i used to boot from a USB with no problem , i did press F2 and tried to reach the boot menu from there but found that it is disabled ( cannot switch to USB neither HDD, nor CD/DVD...) :??:

my problem is when booting even the the window where the boot menu normally show up is no longer accessed
