My Toshiba L505D-S5965 satellite monitor flickers then shuts off a few minutes after regular start up, so then i have to hard reset and go on to safe mode, where it works perfectly. I've had this problem for almost five days now, and I can't find an answer anywhere!

Is there a kind of virus that does this, or is it a driver issue?

I've done system restore, attempted to de-frag the hard drive, and have done multiple restarts, but it doesn't work.

Will I need to take it to a shop, or is it something that can be solved at home?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Here are my specs for those professionals to look at:

Solution
Safe mode load limited drivers and programs and as you have noted works fine in safe mode highly suggesting a driver, power profile or other program interfering

Start with
Updating Video Driver
Check and disable (power setting - or set to max)
Disable Screen Savers
