Okay so let me explain. When i first got all of my parts to buikld my pc NCIX had mispalced my HDD and because i was so excited i decided to use my old HDD in my new computer. NCIX has finally sent me the new HDD but i dont want to lose all huge game files that i have on my current HDD . What do i do? Also if i wanted to upgrade to windows 8 is it possible that i could upgrade to windows 8 onto another HDD and keep my current files? What if there were only a select few files that i wish to keep?

You could always clone your old HDD onto the new one.
For upgrades, there are programs that allow you to transfer files and settings, but I don't think you can transfer installed programs. You'll need to reinstall these.
