Looking to water-cool a single asus dcuii oc 290 and cpu. 4770k OC @4.5ghz

What are some good kits? I've heard a lot about EK. Anyone better, in regards to price or cooling capabilities? I've never done water cooling for myself before and as far as I'm aware, kits are relatively new.

Is it cheaper to buy a kit or assemble the components on my own? Would I get better results/equipment with either?

Any help is much appreciated. thanks :)

The first link is the kit to get you started, the second link is a waterblock for your GPU. If you read into the product description, it clearly states that the kit is plenty strong enough to add to. The GPU waterblock addition to the kit will not pose a problem.

Again, if you have questions.......ask! :)

i7 4770k (gonna OC to 4.5)
asus Maximus vi impact
Corsair 350d

I love corsair products. I was already considering the h100i for my cpu, but decided I would just pay out and get a water cooling system for both the cpu and gpu, especially since the r9 290's already run so hot. I'd prefer to make the card last as long as possible.

Well that makes two of us that are huge Corsair fans. ANYWHERE I have the opportunity to use Corsair I do. I run the AX860i as my PSU and even run Corsair Dominator Platinum 1866Mhz RAM. I couldn't be happier with both. And I couldn't have picked a better cooling solution than the H100i. I do think that you will be happy with it.

If you will give me about 5 minutes to put together a custom loop for your CPU and GPU, I will do so.

I've seen their kits. unfortunately, the one at frozen cpu is out of stock. looking to build within the coming week or so, hopefully.

Also, the gpu waterblock is for reference designs. I forgot to mention the gpu I'm getting is the Asus Directcu ii r9 290 design. I'd have to get another block for my gpu from somewhere else, which I've already found.

otherwise, thanks for the heads up. xspc is pretty sick. I've always seen the really kickass water-cooled setups and saw the nice vertical reservoir. glad to finally find out it's xspc

thanks again :)

FrozenCPU.com isn't the only place that you can buy from. I highly suggest for you to shop around a bit. This is a pretty big purchase and the potential to either save or pay too much is certainly there. These would be my top recommendations to look at:

Amazon.com
Ebay.com
TigerDirect.com
NewEgg.com

Also, look through ALL of the XS-PC kits. The AX series is theeir best radiator kits, and I know for fact come in an AX240 version. The limited 5.25 slots that you face is what prompted me for the vertical resevoir. If you poke around you certainly have a lot to gain in the form of product awareness. A custom loop is hands-down the most efficient means of cooling your rig. The D5 pumps are VERY capable.

Keep me up to date on this build. I want pics! :D I get excited about other people's builds just as much as my own. LOL I'm just a computer fan like you wouldn't believe.

Erg, unfortunately I've gotten snagged on a bit of an issue concerning my budget.. FULL liquid cooling might not happen on this build. Might just go full gaming, unfortunately.

I really needed my workstation but I can't complain. The setup I have is still pretty great. Gonna go with an h100i for my cpu only.

Thanks for all the help anyways, I really appreciate it!

The pleasure is mine! If you would like to consider an air option, this is a great comparison between the Corsair H100i (water cooling), Noctua NH-d14 (air cooling), and the Thermalright Silver Arrow (air cooling). The Noctua and Silver Arrow are what most would agree as the best air coolers out there.

With all that said, I would still go with the H100i for a few reasons.

1. It's a Corsair, so you can almost bet that the quality is superb.

2. It is Corsair Link compaitble. This gives you a wonderful way to monitor/control your cooling system.

3. For me, bragging rights. Water cooling just has a romantic feel about it. It's more "exotic" than air. (to me anyway)

4. It looks good. Let's face it. A computer that has a freakin' radiator looks awesome!

Here is that video comparison between the three:

http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=5&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CGIQtwIwBA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Du8HsjgtMzEg&ei=JeQ0U6ThINWjsQSOh4H4Cw&usg=AFQjCNGWZ-ve2Xtfq7awzaEHMXf2TVaBSg&sig2=tfVnaJRer6NTshTpdE1_cw&bvm=bv.63808443,d.cWc

And here are links to the Noctua and Silver Arrow that are in the comparison. The links are to Amazon.com.
