Hi all, I'm looking for some help if possible.

I recently purchased a Nvidia Geforce GTX 770 for my gaming rig. I also did purchase a new power supply to ensure that I had enough power for it. My new power supply is Cosair TX650. I used to have a Radeon HD series 5800 video card.

Basically, I purchased the GTX 770 to help improve my performance in my games. I play LOL, Diablo III, BF4, etc.

However, ever since I purchased the GTX 770 and power supply I have noticed that my FPS have dropped terribly down instead of improving. For example, in a custom game of LOL, my FPS have shown to be as low as 4 or 5 at times and will fluctuate wildly between single digits and around 40-60 or so. Same thing with Diablo III.

I am currently not using max settings at the moment but rather medium or just high settings. So I am not sure if the rest of my computer is giving me issues or not. I also have performed a clean install of my windows recently as well.

my computer specs are as follows:
processor: i7-3770K @ 3.5GHz
RAM: 8 GB
Video Card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 770
Motherboard: Intel DZ77GAL-70K
Power Supply: Corsair TX650
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Please let me know if you need any more info and thanks a lot!

Did you get the latest drivers from Nvidia's website?

Yes I think so. I went to Nividia's website and downloaded and installed the 335.23 drivers and according to my nividia experience they were the most recent ones. Although, I will admit that my Nividia experience thing is not opening. I have reinstalled that previously since it wasn't opening before and it'll work for a second then won't open

Did you enable the GPU in the bios? It might be that your integrated GPU from your i7 is still checked as the main GPU.

i'd second BnG on that one you must be running on the integrated graphics of your motherboard...make sure you connect your monitor to the graphics card output and enable the GPU in your bios...

Ok I can definitely try to enable my card through the BIOS. Can you help guide me through that process? I've looked through my BIOS before but am not sure where that would be located.

I am also connected to my monitor from my graphics card's output. So the video on my monitor should be directly from the graphics card.

If you connected to the cards output NOW does it work?

on the startup to enter the bios on most motherboard all you have to do is Hit delete until you're in the bios... good luck.

I believed I enabled the GPU in my BIOS and ensured that my video is being output from my video card to my monitor. No difference in FPS improvement

what is the exact RAM you are using? and what GTX 770??.............Aslo I remember hearing that intel was stopping support for the Motherboards and perhaps there is an incompatibility issue with the MB BIOS, maybe there is an update. I doubt that is what it is but you never know. Also you can set the BIOS to which Generation of PCI-E you want to use so make sure it is on Gen 3

This also could be a CPU throttling issue. When this happens the System can hang or even freeze. So if that were the case then it could cause low spike in framerate. What are the temps of the CPU and GPU when running games?

RAM- Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8GB CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B
Video Card- Nividia GeForce GTX 770 part number: 900-12005-2500-000

Vitric9: there could be an issue with the MB. I am not sure how to perform an update with my motherboard or set the BIOS to the generation of PCI-E.

I have tried once to measure the temps during my games. What is a good program to test that out with?

Thanks for the responses btw!

Speccy is a good program to monitor your temps =).
Another one is HWMonitor, but I don't have personal experience with this one ^^.

Ok great! I'll give it a try later tonight and see how it goes. I have just updated my BIOS so hopefully it'll make a difference

Real temp is what I use. Very basic and works best with Intel. also +1 to HWMonitor that is good for temps on your the PCH also speed fan works but you do have to configure it for optimal results. Once you have So hear is what you can use for testing CPU temps and stabilty: Prime95 for CPU stress test and while that is running have real temp and CPU-Z and GPU-Z running as well. you can get all this from sites like TechPowerup.

I have downloaded real temp and have it running but I am not entirely sure what I am looking at on the program. The program shows me a minimum and a maximum plus just one row for temperature by itself

I don't have realtemp myself, but you should probably look for "core temperature".

Sorry I this is late but I just got home. Anyway Real Temp.. At the top you have the basic info on what the CPU frequency is. Then Below there are larger text numbers. the first column you have the current temperature(°C) for each core so starting at the left 0 to 3. so if it were idling it might read: 22 28 29 26°C. usually core 0 reads a few Degrees cooler. and right under these numbers would be Distance to TJ Max. which would read (using those numbers i just put in for example) :73 67 66 69°C under neat these are some more numbers but smaller text saying the min and max temps that the CPU hit since opening real temp. You probably have this figured out by now anyway but I hope this is clear I am not very articulate right now.

I actually brought my computer to my Geek Squad (where I also work). Turns out that the 650W power supply is simply not giving the computer enough power. So I bought a new 850W and the issue appears to be resolved. Thanks for all the help tho!

Lol, how did that happen >< The TX should be more than capable of running the 770 + all your components >.<.
