We have a Sony Blu-Ray player, which only has HDMI Out. Our television has problems with HDMI. The HDMI will work fine with a computer, but it stops working with other hardware. It's a 720p Vizio 32", and it messes up with anything over 720p, and sometimes 720p. Because of this problem, we're out of a Blu Ray player, and I'd really like to watch my LOTR Special Extended Edition Blu-Ray set. I was wondering if this was possible. I know that there's a converter called ethercap, but it doesn't do HDMI.

Not without buying special hardware to remove HDCP protection...

Not sure why this is posted in Linux forum, but you ideally you would purchase a bluray drive for your pc and use program like MakeMKV or VLC wih libbluray+libaacs to watch movie on your pc...

I didn't mean to post in Linux, but I couldn't see how to change the location. Alright. Would it be possible to get a digital to analog RGB converter then use the ethercap thing I mentioned? Of course at that point I could just play it through my t.v.
