Is this 200$ build a good deal?

My friend is selling me his computer for 200$ I'm wondering if its a good deal? Since this is an amd and is probally slower than the first gen i5. will it be able to play modern games at playable framesrate?

CPU AMD PhenomII X4 965BE 3.4ghz

MB BIOSTAR TA990FXE

Ram gskill 1600 ripjaws 4gb

Ati Radeon 5850 powercolor pcs

hdd seagate 250gb

dvd rw pioneer

psu PLENTY 500 W

CPU is still relevant today for gaming. I know, I use one myself in my own rig.

The motherboard will do, but it's nothing fantastic really.

You really need another 4GB of RAM to go with what he's already offering you. But 4GB will get you buy.

The 5850 will allow for some medium settings game play.

HDD, DVD Burner and case can still be re-used. So that's useful.

The PSU should be trashed. Replace it with something of higher quality. Overclock the CPU to at least 3.8Ghz.

I'd say it's worth what he's asking for it. It still leaves room for improvement with future upgrades.

How is the psu trash? i mean all it needs is to output power to the system right? or unless 500w is not sufficient enough?

PSUs go like this:

There's cheapo's that are manufactured with crap parts that will die and take other hardware in your PC with it. Their also over rated in wattage, a lot of times. Your 500w unit probably is only really capable of outputting ~300 watts in real life. Not good...

Then

There's quality units that output their actual rated wattage and have been made of good parts and wont fry your PC when and if it ever dies.

Take your pick.
