After believing I may have shorted it I took my mobo apart. I suspected I had a short due to the fact that I didnt use any mounts when I placed it in and applied too much thermal paste when i placed the CPU fan While I was cleaning the top of the CPU, some thermal paste hit the socket where the CPU goes in. I believe that I'vd screwed up my board. I know that I could clean it, but even then I probably shorted it due to not using mounts. Guess I'll have to buy a new one, huh?

I find if you forget the mounts, you'll fry the PSU before you fry the motherboard.

You can try to remove the thermal paste with a clean, durable cloth and a little 99% rubbing alcohol.

But you most likely shorted the PSU.

... and don't be so impatient and reckless. Read the instructions and take your time.
