Hey guys, I'm a novice at building pc's and recently I built myself a gaming rig. It all went well until now... every time I try to install my OS my computer either freezes or will automatically restart, it does this when it says "unpacking data files"

All help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

It's supposed to restart. It's the process of the install. When it freezes or restarts, did you power it down?

Your power supply what brand is it? do you have a link it may be your problem a bad power supply can make a system not start reboot or act funny or not work at all under any kind of stress or even when its idle... Did you google some guides on how to install all your parts? from the case standoff and such??

I did watch alot of tutorials, and I watched a full build walk-through while I was installing the parts.

Now as for the psu it is a piece of junk, it was the only one the parts store had in stock, it is a Wt550q

Can you shop online for one? there are several places that offer a good power supply for around 50 bones.

thank all of you who took the time to respond to this thread, I fixed the problem by purchasing a new psu, and installing windows 7 instead
