Hey everyone, I had a question about PSU, so I am currently looking at the Corsair AX 860w 80 PLUS PLATINUM vs Corsair 850w 80 PLUS Gold anybody know what one is better? Specs i7 4770K, ASUS Z87 SABERTOOTH, ASUS 7970 Directcu ii, will be upgrading GPU to ASUS R9 290x Directcu ii

850w is recommended for sli and crossfirex
for single gpu 650w is needed
platinum is better than gold

For efficiency yes, for telling the overall quality of a product not so much, just one is platinum rated doesn't make it a better PSU than all gold rated ones.

just want to make sure some guy reading this then doesn't go and buy the cheapest platinum psu thinking it's amazing when it can't keep its voltages within 10%.
