I accidently touch my motherboard with a screw driver while the PC was on. The whole computer froze so i turned off the PSU and turned the computer on but there was no post. Everything seemed to run but nothing showed on monitor. Is my mobo fried?

Solution
Well, unfortunately if it was working fine before that, and now its not, i'd say you've got very unlucky and damaged it. In fact it may have been weak to start with, as touching a usb connection with a screw driver really shouldn't kill it.

I'd just return the board as being faulty.

i'd be suprised if it was broken, unless you did it some physical damage.

Motherboards have all sorts of protection built in, so if you have only just done this, kill all the power unplug the psu and switch it off. I'd remove the CMOS battery and leave it for half an hour, and basiclly wait for all the capacitors to fully discharge, and hopefully it will reset.

Then plug everything back in and you should find its fine.

Yikes! Ouch...that stinks.

What model/make of mobo do you have?

Do you get the POST beeps or does you mobo have a POST code read out? If so, what POST code does it stop at? If no POST beeps or POST codes on the read out then it might very well be fried.

Do you see any capacitors or MOFSETS bulging or blackened? Get a fried electronics smell? That would be an indicator that something got cooked.

Have you tried resetting the BIOS? Meaning, used the jumper pins to reset the BIOS or even pull out the battery to clear it? This may not work if the mobo is fried, but it would be worth a try.

I Have an MSI h87 gaming, i see no damage at all and cant really smell anything. I took out the CMOS battery for couple of hours and put it back in and nothing shows up. No sound or anything.
