Paging WD Loyalists

I have always used Seagate Toshiba and Hitachi HDD’s in the past and I just purchased my first WD. It is a Green 4TB (40EZRX). I am virtually positive it is bad but being unfamiliar with WD Green Disks I thought I would see if what it is doing is normal for this model. After installation my computer would not post. I tried it on 3 different SATA controllers Marvell (no post). ASmedia (Posted long boot not recognized in windows disk management but was detected on the bios controller splash screen but not detected in the UEFI. The Intel controller acted the same as the ASmedia controller. I also tried two different SATA cables both known good. Then I noticed a weird clicking sound so I decided to listen to the disk. This is not the normal bad disk clicking sound it is like a faint werrrr… click, werrrr… click, werrrr… click that does not stop. It is not hard and sharp like a typical failed drive spindle rpm maintains consistent. So then I put into an enclosure finally windows detects it and I can manipulate it in disk management (well kind of). I set it to GPT but it will not allow me to create a volume or format it and keeps crashing disk management. I know none of the problems that I am having would be normal for a WD disk and my computer should be able to use it with no problems, but are the sounds coming from it normal for a WD green disk (I do not think they are but in have not had a green disk before either)?

Thanks

The BIOS is the most current revision, it is a Z77 board that currently has a 3TB disk in it. I can find nothing that says 4tb disks are not supported. and it did almost the same thing on three differant SATA controllers Intel Z77, on board ASmedia and Marvell 88SE9230. it also did not work correctly when using a USB enclosure. The replacement has shipped I guess if the new one does the same thing I will know the problam was not with the disk.
