Hey everybody. I'll try and keep this short. I am thinking about future upgrades and I want to pair my EVGA Nvidia 760 GTX SC in SLI sometime in the future. I've read Nvidia recommends minimum of 700 watts for SLI. I currently own an Enermax Infiniti 720W that's almost 5 years old - never had a problem with it while previously running two 5850s in crossfire. I was questioning if that extra 20 watt is enough "head room" so I did a little more research.
I went to one of those PSU calulators and entered all my computer components. I did the calculation based on 100% (peak load) and the estimated minimum recommendation calulated to be 588 watts. I'm assuming video card companies factor in their own headroom so their minimum recommendation is rather conservative.
My question is would you recommend using a power supply that may be 6 years old by the time of upgrade? I've never had a PSU die out on me but I can't imagine that thing going on forever.
Thanks in advance.
