wireless internet setup to hook up a non wireless desktop

OK I have a hotspot from Verizon that is wireless you can't connect any other way to it. My laptop is wireless and I want to connect to the internet through my laptop from my non wireless desktop .. I have connected the 2 computers to get her with Ethernet cables but I don't know what each computer setting should be. My laptop is windows 7 and my desktop is xp can you help me

for the desktop, get a usb wifi adapter

If the hotspot is usb you can get a 3g/4g router that has a usb port,
otherwise you will need a wifi card for deaktop. The pci slot ones perform better then the usb ones.

I can't afford one right now that is why I wanted to do it this plus I wanted to network both computers

You can bridge the wieless and wired adapter on the laptop and that will get you what you are wanting to do.

Although, this method does not usually work that well and you will get a noticiably slower internet connection out of the desktop.

If you can't afford on you can't. But they are as little as US$12. Sometimes your friends may even have one laying about from an older laptop that has been replaced with one with built in WiFi.
