Do I break raid 1 mirrors before upgrading from XP to W7?

Good day.
I'm getting ready to upgrade my PC from XP to Windows 7. I have 3 HDDs of which 2 are in a hardware (BIOS) raid 1 mirror configuration, forming E: drive.

Do I have to break the mirrors in the BIOS before upgrading to to W7? If so, will data on the two drives still be intact?

Thanks in advance,

Bjoern

Nope. You can leave them intact. Windows 7 has a good set of firmware RAID controller drivers built in (the Intel/AMD RAID is not a true hardware RAID, it is a firmware assisted software RAID). If the RAID volume is not picked up at installation time you may need to provide additional drivers the old fashioned way, but only if the desired installation disk is not picked up.
