I have recently started purchasing parts for an editing/gaming build. But I forgot to ask about a wireless adapter (i have absolutely no choice), and I was referred to a powerline network adapter. I have been looking around, but since I have never even heard of this I don't know what to look for. Any help would be great. I have $88 after taxes and shipping to spend on this, and can not go over at all.

When hardwired ethernet is just not an option this is the next better option.

A high end router (like $120) or more through 1-2 walls might perform mariginally better. If it is one wall then you should just be running an ethernet wire between them, might even have a coax outlet allready on that wall.

I was just going to drill through the wall, but the apartment office said that if I did then they would charge me with $75 in damages even though it wouldn't cost nearly that much to repair it. I also thought of just getting a longer Ethernet cable but that would cost me a lot since if I did that I would have to run a longer cable along the base of the wall all the way to the living room. which would take about an extra 15-20 feet for decent cable management.

Just one, but where my computer will be is in the complete opposite corner as the router. I mean I can move it, that wouldn't be a problem, but even so. How do I change the jacks, I dont currently have a TV plugged in so I wont have to worry about, but I still don't know how to change it.

Ok either they are almost side by side each other in the wall or they are on opposite sides of a stud.

Go ahead and take off the screws of the cover plate and tell me what you see, or taking a photo would be even better.

If they are in the same stud cavity (space between the vertical 2x4s) then it will be a really easy job of changing it over. You can even get female-female jacks so that you do not need any special tools or know-how on how to terminate cables.
