Micro atx vs atx build

there are several key differences between atx and matx... the main one being the area "footprint" the computer can take up... with matx and cases built for matx formfactor motherboards being much smaller then full sized atx boards. Of course the smaller the size of your case can lead to a number of changes for a lot of important things, and tends to be less forgiving to casual builders. matx tends to lack in airflow and room for extreme cooling solutions, which of course leads to it being a less ideal form factor for aggressive overclocking enthusiasts.

In general though, practically speaking the main difference between the two formats is expansion and customization ability. atx is just a heck of a lot more flexable for future upgrades and expansion... matx much less so.

as far as our two builds go i would go with the ATX version. Its a much more well rounded build, with an elite case and cpu cooling solution to support aggressive overclocking. The matx does sport an awesome motherboard, but in general is an inferior system.

Okay i can see how the matx is inferior when you put it that way. i just didn't know if spending $100 more on the atx would be the better choice. money isn't the issue or anything since they are in the same ballpark of price. i probably won't do much over cloaking but i wanted to have the parts that would be able to if the time came up for it.

As far as my build goes for the ATX version, how solid of a build is it? i don't know how reliable pcpartpicker is with the whole compatibility feature. so do you think all the parts would work well together? no complications?
