I have a PC that can run most games on reasonably high settings but recently my PC keeps shutting off whenever i finish playing a game, this typically happened when I played highly demanding games but recently it has got to the point that even when I play undemanding games it shuts off for no reason. If anyone can give me help I would be highly appreciative.

the VS series tends to be lower end then other Corsair series, and 450w is the minimum recommended by nVidia for that GPU. Do you or a friend have another power supply you can try out and see if the problem goes away?

I am thinking that the power supply has gone bad, if it was shutting off only under heavy loads, and now it is shutting off under light loads the power supply has probably degraded significantly.

Do you only have one graphics card in there?
What the computer shuts off does it completely shutoff? no BSOD just turns off and you have the manually turn it back on?

That does seem like a power supply issue. The power supply has a 3 year warranty, so if you may be able to return it for a replacement unit, and if they don't make that model anymore you may get an upgraded unit.

If the power supply is outside of its 3 year warranty then I would recommend something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438016 (39.99 after rebate)
or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151094 (59.99)

Really anything on this list (the Corsair CX series is also low end but should be fine for your system)
