My computer keeps rebooting. I have windows Xp. I cannot get into safe mode or restart with command prompt. I pushed F8 and made it to the blue screen.

How do I get into the system?

Solution
No that is a pre-windows boot screen.

I am assuming when you try to go past that screen it reboots and starts back over.

You will have to get out your windows cd and try to do a repair install to restore all of the system critical files and settings
(this wont delete any of your files, but you may have to redo some windows updates and I have seen a few times programs may needing to be reinstalled)

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. The screen says:"a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer..." I'm not sure if this is the screen of death or the blue login screen.

Boosted1g is right. I would perform an "In Place" installation. When you boot off of your CD, start the install process, and on the 2nd window that states to install, select Advanced, and then that will take you to the option for re-installing without formating. This is known as an "In Place" upgrade, or install.
