Is there a pin missing on my CPU socket?

Hi, I decided to build my own system for the first time and ran in to some problems. My newly built computer was turning on then off when I tried to run it. When taking the CPU out i noticed what looked to be a CPU pin missing buy I can't tell for sure. I took a picture of what I saw.

yeah... you're going to need to tell us a lot more... like the cpu and motherboard.

Using this

as a reference, there's definitely a contact point on the CPU where that pin is missing on your motherboard.

And looking at pictures of your motherboards socket on Google it would appear that they have a pin where you do not.
