Is my FX 8350 Bottlenecking my Crossfired 270x?

I have a FX 8350 @ 4.7ghz running with Crossfired 270x.

In heaven benchmark the cards run great. Even with Crysis 2 my crossfire setup runs awesome.

But in Battlefield 4, it runs like crap.

Is my CPU bottlenecking my 270x's? I'm also running them with Mantle.

Single card GPU is awesome for BF4.

I'm really confused why Crysis 2 works great, and not BF4. Any insight would be appreciated.

I doubt it. BF 4 has major FPS issues anyways.

Try running it without Mantle. I can't use it because it causes ridiculous lag spikes, probably the same for you.

Blah, that's what I was afraid of.

Yeah, I've tried DirectX. It's horrible, I will not go back to it :p

Same issues or...? It's not "horrible", it's just not as "optimized" as Mantle, and if you're not getting terrible performance with it, you should probably consider going back to it. Have you updated your drivers to even support Mantle?

crysis 2 does not support mantle...I think there is a problem with your psu that when you use all 8 cores it lags...and like @overclocking expert said, bf4 has fps issues....try installing another gpu intensive game like crysis 3 or batman arkham origin. skyrim...if your fps is not good with these games then you might have a system problem

I'm not getting any performance increase. In fact, I'm almost certain I'm getting less FPS.

Yes, I'm on 14.3 Beta. I've been scouring the forums here and a few others with 8320 have reported switching to Intel and says their Crossfire works now. But they were stock clocked.

750w PSU.

I've heard that BF4 is CPU intensive, not GPU intensive.

What motherboard do you have?

AMD FX8350 Black Edition @ 4.7ghz
ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0
Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB DDR3-1600mhz
Crossfire Sapphire AMD R9 270X 4gb
EVGa SuperNOVA 750 Watt PSU
XSPC Universal Water Cooling Kit
Windows 8.1

You are not being bottlenecked. An 8350 at 4.7ghz is a powerful cpu. Its most likely a software/driver issue.

That PSU should be sufficient, but maybe not quite with the water cooling or something? Either way, it's not an issue with the hardware, that's perfectly fine.

Ive heard the same...and thats the thing..Mantle is also, i believe the ability to utilize multiple cores at once for gaming tasks..

BF4 is both CPU and GPU intensive, actually.

Be sure you are running both of your graphics cards in the blue colored x16 PCI-e slots, otherwise you can experience odd CrossFire performance from the imbalance in bandwidth to both cards, as the black PCI-e slots are only wired with 4 lanes apiece.

So I guess I can safely rule out that my CPU is NOT bottle-necking my Crossfire setup.

Battlefield 4 is the problem. Thanks all.
