Asus M5A99FX + FX-8350 + Overclocking?

Hi people,

I’ve just recently had this combo:

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2 AM3+ AMD 760G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
CPU: AMD FX-8350 2.81 GHz - Eight-Core

As you can see from the 2.81 GHz-thingy, it wasn’t really optimal. Enter this motherboard which I will get tomorrow:

Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0

Now were talking! Ahem, I hope. But now my two questions:

1) How do I overclock my CPU? And how much can I safely do it?
2) How do I overclock my motherboard? And why is that good at all? I’ve just recently heard about that particular possibility.

Cheers :)

Woah! Thanks :)

Well, am I wrong or is overclocking a motherboard ca. 10 times more difficult than overclocking a CPU?

Just out curiosity: How much performance-gain can there be from this? Thanks again :)

I am not sure. You mean the CPU-cooler? I think the AMD that came along with the FX-8350. Could that be?

Great, gonna get that tomorrow also. Any advice on easy overclocking? I know people say we need to stress-test and everything - but do we haaaaave to? :D And what might a stable CPU-speed be? 4.6? And a stable motherboard-setting?

Thanks a bunch. Final question for today: CPU-OC is done in the bios - you set the speed and voila. I know the perfomance-increase can be substantial. But what about the motherboard-OC? How much of a difference can that do?
