Need Help Upgrading PC

A few years ago I built this computer with some money from my grand father and others sources for about $600. I think that after 3 years its time for me to upgrade some of the components. My build isn't all that amazing and serves me well for now.

CPU: Intel i3 - 3220
GPU: Sapphire HD 7770 GHz Edition
PSU: RaidMax 500W (Came with Smilodon chassis)
HDD: Western Digital 232~
MB: ASRock H61iCafe
RAM: x2 4Gb Ballistix DDR3

I think that some of the things are unbalanced, as I didn't know much about computers when I first got the parts. Any help or suggestion is appreciated.

Edit: Sorry, forgot to post a budget, it is anything below $200. I just want to future-proof my computer

What is the system not doing well that prompted you to want to upgrade it? What is your budget for the upgrade? What are the intended uses of the system? Where do you plan on buying components? I think this is mid level good rig.I do not think you should change any Components.Keep this aside for a bit & Build a new AMD Gaming Rig.

The only thing I'd want to put into that system would be an SSD for boot drive.

Take the $200, buy a nice 250GB SSD and make boot up/loading times a tenth of what they were.

Bonus to this is it gets you a nice 250GB ssd to start your next build. That CPU and GPU are fairly well balanced as both are midrange performers.
