Hello everyone,

First time posting here :)

I just (yesterday) bought he ASUS GTX780 graphic card and once I installed it, I eagerly started running the games i could only play on low to mid graphic settings, hoping I could play them on higher settings.

But as I ran Assassins Creed: Black Flag, I got around 20 fps, even on low settings (which worked fine, above 60 fps, on my old GTX 470).

Same deal with the new Thief game, but this one runs at around 30 fps, but improving as I approach the lower settings.

I ran Sniper Elite V2 and it runs on 120 fps on all settings max.

The Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0 gives me 44,9 FPS average.

So I was hoping if you could tell me if this is normal for my specs and I was hoping for too much (i'm not particularly tech-savvy) or if there is something wrong, like faulty driver installation or something.

Here are my specs:

Resolution I'm playing on: 1920x1200
OS : Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 - 64bit
Motherboard: Asus P8P67
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz (3411MHz) x4 (according to BIOS, on turbo it goes up to 4,1 GHz)
GPU: Asus GTX 780 DC2OC 3GD5 (3072MB) / Driver version: 335.23 / Installed Nvidia Experience after i noticed the FPS issue
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
PSU: RXFX Core Edition 550W ATX 2.3

Another thing that I noticed is that when I press K-Boost on EVGA precision, I get a blue screen.

Anyway, I'd be very happy if anyone can help me out and let me know if there is something I can do to fix this, or if this is all I get my with my current setup. And of course if you need any other info let me know.

Thank you very much in advance. :)

AleksH - thank you, they are up to date, i will keep that in mind though
S4in7- thank you for your help, no, i just selected "clean installation" in the advanced settings of the driver install wizard. Could that be it?

Thanks Georgehillier, maybe it's that?

I uninstalled the drivers, ran the Display Driver Uninstaller and then re-installed the drivers. Sadly it didn't change anything.. Assassins Creed Black Flag still 20-30 fps with the lowest settings.. Payday 2 runs at 120 fps with all settings on max though..

I disabled vsync in the nvidia control panel, no change..

Maybe it's a faulty card or the PSU too low? I don't know..

DDU and CCleaner in conjunction should catch any and all hidden drivers and such...I bet it's your PSU--Nvidia recommends a minimum of 600w PSU for the 780 (it's an overestimate, but just to be safe) so either your 550w is starting to fail or it simply can't deliver enough power to the GPU.

Alright so.. I used DDU and CCleaner as s4in7 suggested.. No change. I put my old card (gtx 470) in and everything (even windows navigation for crying out loud) is faster.

All of my friends have a 450-550w psu, so unfortunately that won't work. The problem is, I don't want to spend ~180$ in addition to the huge bag of cash i dropped for the card (i was saving money for months) before i know for sure that it is not the card. So I brought the GPU back to the shop and they will test it in their systems, so I will either have a new card in a week, or it works just fine for them and they return it to me in a couple of days, in which case I will buy a new PSU and see what happens.

Anyway, thank you all very much for helping me out. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to give me advice.

I will come back here to give an update to my status, maybe someone who has similar issues and is searching the net, can then read what helped in my situation.

Thank you again.

Alright, I'm back. :)

Everything works now!

After the shop tested the card, they said that all was fine.

So I was starting to get pretty frustrated, when a friend of mine, who is more savvy in these matters, started checking everything very thoroughly and he noticed a really really fine and tiny tear under the pci-e port..

I'm serious, you could only see it with a magnifying glass. I dunno how it got there, maybe it was my fault, maybe I pulled too hard when I took out the card, no idea. So, he gave me a spare mobo of his to test and that was indeed the culprit. I bought a new mobo and installed windows from scratch, everything is smooth as butter now.

Thank you guys again for helping me out!

I don't want to jinx it, but I'm really happy this is over now.
