Should I buy a new gpu?

Hello guys. Alright so a while ago when I was playing league of legends I started to get random black lines across my screen. They would flash. As far as I know this only for league of legends and not any other game. Although I was already thinking of buying a new gpu do you guys think this would fix the issue with league? The black lines do not appear outside of the game(s). So I'm not to sure it could be the cpu as it does not over heat and is not overclocked at the moment. ( although when I made the computer I might have "trial fitted" the heat sink. Meaning when I put the heat sink on I took it off and put it back on. Do you think this could cause a problem? * note I built this PC in sept. Last year) the psu is an hx750 which I have had no issues with except a little fan noise at intense gaming which is expected. The monitor has a dead pixel but other then that it does it's job. I have 250 dollars to spend on a gpu. I would prefer it to be nvidia as I have a 7870 hd Radeon right now. any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated! TIA.

GTX 760 would be awesome for your computer. The problem you're having is most likely the GPU, but you might want to reinstall the game just in case.

Thanks guys for the answers! KevinAr18, I would have probably already switched the gpu with another one in a different computer but I can't. Sadly I have no other computer around to test this gpu. I have tested it with a couple gpu stress programs and my gpu seemed to have passed them fine.

And to zeph_yr, I have tried everything, from reinstalling drivers, reinstalling the game, all that good stuff.

Hey guys, it's probably possible that it is just a graphical with the game. I am unable to take a picture because the line will flash in from of the screen for about 1 second and then go away. So I have no time to take a picture. The black line is literally just a black line ( maybe half and inch wide) and the whole screen long and it's usually diagonal. As said before I have reinstalled the game numerous times.

Thanks guys! I ended up putting my cpu back to 4.2 ghz as it was before. Lets just hope that league has a glitch with my pc and it will go away. If not, then I guess I wont be playing league until I get a new gpu. As long as I can play other games without this issue I think I'm in the clear.

A little update, I am about 85% positive i will be buying a new gpu. Not exactly to "fix" the issue I had with league of legends but i was planning on upgrading my gpu at around this time since i built this computer. Would anybody have any input as to these graphics cards that I sort of narrowed out? If you have any other gpu that would be just as good as these, list them! I would be very grateful to see them. Hey guys, hopefully tomorrow or wednesday ill be buying a new gpu. As of right now im buying an evga 760. Anybody want to disagree or agree about it? If so leave a suggestion if you disagree. Thanks so much for all of your help!
