static screen while playing games?

when i play high performance games on my new comupter i get staticy distortion on my screen, does anyone know what may cause this?

my build:
cpu- amd 8350 4.0 ghz 8cores
motherboard- asus m5a97
ram- g-skill ripjaw 8gb
graphics card- 2x sapphire raedon 7870
hard drive- 1tb seagate barracuda
PSU- 650w Cougar MS
OS- win 7 64 bit

* Do you have another video card you could use in the computer for a while ... or can you put the video card in another computer to test it and see if the video card is bad?

* Run a memory test on the RAM.

BTW, if you want to take a camera picture of what you see, you can post it on imgur.com or some other site.

Also, what cable are you using? DVI or HDMI? (not VGA right?)

i do not have another video card to test, ill run a test on the ram, and yes i am using vga from a dvi-a port (is that a problem?)

VGA might not be the issue, but it is less than ideal. VGA is an analog signal, so image quality will be less than DVI, HDMI, or Displayport. As an analog signal, VGA can sometimes pick up distortion from outside sources easier, that might cause weird picture effects (although this is very rare); I don't think this is your problem though ... so don't focus on this.
However, if you can use DVI, HDMI, or Displayport, you really should for the image quality (after you solve this issue). :)

Since the cause is mostly likely video card related (although it's not guaranteed). If there's any way you can isolate the video card, that would help you know for sure.

* Can you put the video card in another computer?
* Can you borrow a video card from a friend?
