Is there some floppy disc i need to put in, it's really weird that my bios would show it but when I try to install windows 7 it doesnt show up! I have a seagate 1tb hard disc drive and it says it's internal storage.

Solution
I have never been to microcenter because they choose to not build a location near me but they may have a tech service that will format it for you, of course they may also charge for this service. Do you have any techie friends that may be able to do this for you? Also the linux route is very simple

Hey,

Is the drive formatted? If not then you should try to do so. Either plug connect it to another computer, or download a Linux distro like Lubuntu and install it on a USB stick. Then simple boot into the live USB stick and use the disk management tools included with Lubuntu to partition the drive in NTFS. While you are there you can also check the SMART data to make sure everything is in order with the drive.

Also make sure you are using the native SATA controller on your motherboard, and set the BIOS to AHCI.

Hope this helps!

You need to install linux onto a thumbdrive so that it becomes bootable media. Once you can boot into linux via the usb drive, boot into it on the new computer instead of the harddrive and use the disk management tools included with the linux distro to format the harddrive to NTFS. Essentially you are turning the usb thumbdrive into a linux system disk.
