My budget is 180 I've been looking at graphics cards the last week and frankly they are very confusing XD. I have my eyes set on a Asus GeForce GTX 660
my friend has an MSI GTX 650 and he says it runs great ,but I want something to last me a while. When I was about to buy the GTX 660 I saw the MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Its lower on my budget and its 750 (for some reason bigger numbers mean better for me) But I looked at benchmarks and it was lower than the 660. Im really stuck here. The rebate for the 660 ends this month and if I cant decide ill just go with it.Please help me decide.

Solution
First off. Nvidia cards are usually stacked like this.

GTX - These are supposed to be gaming orientated cards
GT - HD video or just low end cards, gaming on these cards usually does not do well.

Now the first number GTX "7"xx is the series or generation the card is in. So the GTX750 is a newer card than the GTX660.

HOWEVER the second number GTX x"5"x is the where the cards performance is inside that generation. So the GTX660 is of a higher performance bracket INSIDE the GTX 6xx generation than what the GTX750 is in its generation.

Now I would suggest you look into an AMD R9 270 instead. Its considerably faster and around the same price. Keep in mind it requires a larger power supply than the GTX cards, so you might want to tell us...

Here is a nice one @ 185$ : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161449&clickid=QkJVk2yWb0q2UT8ULuQIcy2bUkTTpLVjw2qg0U0&iradid=97618&ircid=2106&irpid=79301&nm_mc=AFC-IR&cm_mmc=AFC-IR-_-na-_-na-_-na

Here is a relative performance chart showing a whole stack of graphics cards.

The R9 270 (not the X version) is cheaper and still better. :)
