front usb connection stopped working after update yesterday

Hi
the front USB connections on my PC (asus) stopped working suddenly yesterday after it ran some update (thought it was the wireless mouse at first but its not) I can't find out how to get them working again and ASUS just keep directing me to the USA only tech help so I know when I fill that in they will respond by saying I'm not in US! I saw similar questions on here so wondered if someone can help. I have a basic PC knowledge so please do it in easy steps!

Click your start menu and type "RUN". A box will pop up. In this box type "devmgmt.msc" a window for device manager will pop up with a list of items.

Do you see any yellow, red or blue notifications in this window? Do you see any notifications at all?

This issue happened after windows update? What kind of update?

I had that box up yesterday (got to it via different route though) there is a little yellow warning triangle on the USB xHCI compliant Host controller I tried to update that but it says it is uptodate! as for the update I don't know it was around 5:30am I was making a coffee while computer was waking up and it was running updates when I came back.

its a fairly new PC running Windows 8 if that helps

Try this,

From the Device Manager window -

Right click the USB Host controller item with a yellow exclamation point.
Click properties
Click the driver tab
Click roll back driver, if it is grey, you will not be able to.

If you can't roll back driver, provide me with the model number of your computer to find the correct driver for you.

Yeah its grey that box. The model is K5130

have you tried reinstalling the drivers for your motherboards USB ,
If you give me the make and model of your motherboard i will give you a link to these drivers

where do I find the model of the motherboard?

(just have to pop out so please don't think Im ignoring anyone if I don't respond for a bit) appreciates all the help!

oh and on the general tab for that USB host controller there is this message Ive just noticed:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
{Unable to Load Device Driver}
%hs device driver could not be loaded.
Error Status was 0x%x

then you need to install new driver

Pineapple - Double check that your computer is the ASUS K5130 before installing these.

Hi how do I intall once Ive downloaded as there are lots of files in the list do I just use the setup file?

Pineappleparty :

Use the setup.exe or application.exe file. Right click it and run as administrator. Just follow the prompts and it will install. Post back here after installation. Hopefully that will fix your issue.

Hi right Ive done that the chipset one went ok,I think, (apart from message you are installing an older version but I figured its prob the newer version that has messed everything up)
the MEI one didn't keeps getting message Set up failed to start one or more application processes

:/

would uninstalling the update it did yesterday (KB2919394 windows update) help (make things worse?) Ive just found that in the update log

windows update should give you a newer version , this shouldn't cause any issues

Oh well don't know what else it might be guess Ill have to live with out them! to be fair my old computer never had them so I guess was just a bonus not having to move computer out everytime I wanted to plug camera in .

You can definitely uninstall that update to try to fix the issue. It won't cause any harm, and if it fixes the issue then you know that was the problem. If not go ahead and re-install it.

To uninstall the update:

Navigate to Programs and features
Click "view installed updates" or similar
Type KB2919394 in the "search installed updates" field or manually find it
uninstall

If that doesn't fix the problem go ahead and re-install the update.

Another question for you. What happened when you tried to install the chipset driver that I had linked you?

Hi again.
right downloading the drivers did nothing I did look on the asus website as I think I had to download the 8.1 one but again that did nothing either BUT.... Uninstalling the windows update HAS made it all work again! ??? so Im guessing it didn't like something in that update! (you may know more than me on the reasons )
I suspect it will update again at some point when I turn computer off and on again! :/
but at least I/we know what caused it so if anyone else has similar problem that might be it!

nope No yellow exclamation marks /warning triangles now!! *Ive taken automatic updating off just incase* but thanks for your time much appreciated
