There are many factors that can cause the problem. I assume in the question that you mean the TV sees your WiFi signal SSID. Well that is your access point or AP.
One suspect is a weak WiFi signal. One of the problems with a TV that the unit shields the WiFi antenna from the signal. Another is interference from another access point, particularity if you live in an apartment. From the question, I again assume that the TV never asked for the encryption password. And you are using encryption, aren't you?
The first thing I would try is to temporarily turn off the encryption and move the router/access point and the TV next to each other to see if you can get a connection that way. If that works, then reset the encryption and remake the connection, then return the electronics to the preferred locations to see if the connection can be maintained. If not, then you know you have a WiFi signal problem.
