Hello,

I have a peculiar issue with my PC:

At random times, it just hangs (mouse pointer still works, but everything else is unresponsive).
If I reboot the pc I get the "Reboot and Select proper Boot device" error and can't see the hdd in BIOS. If i shut-down the PC and turn it on, then the hdd is recognized and everything works until the random issue appears again.

System specs :
Motherboard : Gigabyte H77-DS3H
CPU : Intel CoreTM i7 3770 IvyBridge
HDD : Western Digital Blue, 1TB, 64MB, 7200rpm, SATA 3
Power source : Inter-Tech Energon 650W
RAM : Kingston 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM
OS: Windows 8.1

I also want to mention I have this issue for 1 week, and the PC is 1 year old
At first tried to reinstal my OS, but after that the issue resurfaced. I guess it's most likely a hardware issue, and I want to know for certain what to send to warranty (not all parts are from the same place)

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Its hard to tell... Do you have a video card or are you using the integrated graphics? I remember something similar used to happen to me when my GPU wasn't cooling properly and was getting overheated. Given that, do you have proper airflow going in and out of your case?

Its probably not the RAM. RAM doesn't usually work properly and then go bad after a year. Likely a CPU, HDD, or motherboard issue (if you don't have a GPU, in which case my bets are on the GPU).

Yes..I have a video card : ATI Radeon HD 7850.
I have a proper airflow in the case, and have a temp monitoring program and no parts overheat.

What are the temps on you 7850? On my 7970 (PowerColor), my computer would 'hang' when the temps were as low as 50 deg C (on the GPU specifically)!!! That should not happen. A lot of people reported that problem with that card, so I had to pawn it off eventually.

Would the GPU cause my hdd not showing after reboot??

That would only be an issue caused by either your HDD or your motherboard. Is the HDD that doesn't show a primary drive (OS is installed on it)? If so, this may be your problem. If not, does your PC 'hang' only when you pull information from that particular disk? This could be your problem.
