Passing one benchmark isn't indicative of "stable". If it's crashing your game, dial back on your OC a little.

What card is it? A lot of vendors lately that have factory overclocked cards lock voltages (especially on 7970's) and won't allow you to further overclock your card without it becoming unstable.

NO benchmark is a perfect indicator of stability. Every game is different. Different engines will react differently to the same speeds. For instance, my 780 has a 175mhz overclock that is perfectly stable in Heaven and 99% of my games. However, when playing Bioshock Infinite, the driver will crash within ten minutes because it becomes unstable. THat's why lots of tools have profile save slots, so you can build several overclocks to match different games.
